Advantages of Schulich MBA

You can not go wrong with an MBA from York University, from the Schulich School of Business.

The reasons being:

  • Affordable fees ($49,000 vs Rotmans $75,000)
  • Good global ranking for 2009 (49th best in the world vs Rotmans 47th rank!)
  • Great value for money (Essentially, the same value as Rotman for 2/3 rd the fees?!)
  • Flexibility to switch between Part time - Full time programs
  • Multiple specialization options available
  • Option of specializing in 2 fields before graduating
  • Downtown Toronto campus (next to TD building) for part time classes
  • Very friendly faculty & staff in admissions office
  • Collaborations with multiple Business Schools in USA & India, as listed below

Schulich has tied up with arroximately 50 Graduate / Business Schools around the world !!! The link for the information is provided below:

http://www.schulich.yorku.ca/SSB-Extra/StudyAbroad.nsf/docs/Graduate+Partner+Schools

Some of them (the ones relevant to me) include:

1. North-Western University : Kellog MBA (offering a Kellog-Schulich executive MBA program)
2. S.P.Jain Institute of Management, Mumbai, India
3. ISB (Indian School of Business), Hyderabad, India
4. IIM-A (Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad), India
5. IIM-B (Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore), India

Disadvantages:

  • Main campus is located in North York, away from the Financial district / downtown
  • Doesn't have the same charisma or standing with recuiters as Rotman has

  1. Completely wrong, as a Schulich grad you have no access to any big consulting firm (strategy) nor ibanking. Schulich undergrads have the same job offers for half the price of Schulich MBA.
