What to do with the offer from Schulich, York University?

  1. Globally, 2009 FT ranking # 49, The Economist ranking #27, WSJ ranking # 15, Forbes ranking # 3 (for non US schools)
  2. Ranked #1 in Canada by WSJ
  3. Tie up with Kellogg School
  4. Excellent branding and reputation
  5. Highest number of MBA electives in Canada
  6. Huge number of options for part time: evenings, days, alternate weekends with multiple starts in January, May or September. This is like a superstore - a Walmart of MBA options in Canada!
  7. One of the highest GMAT averages of B schools in Canada - 660
  8. High enrollment every year: 528, large Alumni & good Alumni network
  9. Exchange programs with IIM Bangalore, IIM Ahmedabad & S.P.J, Mumbai
  10. Diversity of students (more than anywhere else)
  11. Sexy building & campus
  12. 6 month strategic consulting project - work with real clients, problems, solutions
  13. Flexible interchange between FT & PT program (no fuss about it)
  14. Affordable tuition fee
  15. iMBA program available - I can study in India for a while if I wanted to
  16. Everyone is assured some kinda financial support, good scholarships
  17. 90% graduation rate (vs 60% for the other? - not sure about this - just read it on a forum)
  18. Downtown campus exists for PT course
  19. The School cares for students & is consistently climbing rankings.
  20. Lots of extracurricular activities due to 50/50 system of accepting students (50% academic & 50% extracurricular)
  21. As a read on a forum, lots of parties & extracurricular activities
  22. 2 Indian teachers in the Health Industry Management program: Adita Pai & Amit Mawani
  23. The diagram they have on the website about the HIMP is truly impressive. That one diagram completely explains the depth of understanding. Link below:- http://www.schulich.yorku.ca/SSB-Extra/HIMP.nsf/Lookup/industry_graphic/$file/industry_graphic.pdf
  24. Kellogg-Schulich advantage: Global Business School Alliance, Leading Edge Curriculum, World Class Facility, Face to Face delivery, immediate payback, outstanding students, career counseling.

Disadvantage:-

  • Their HIMP is very new, only a few years old and not as reputed as that from McMaster University. Even though, it is tied up with Kellogg MBA that offers one of the HIMP in the world.
  • More expensive than McMaster
