You have done your research well - but looking so deeply into starting salary is a skewed way of looking at schools..getting that first job is the main thing you have to look at - the odds of getting interviews with so many different firms more at these higher ranked schools than at McGill.

For example;

• Research In Motion (makers of Blackberry) hires for some positions only at Rotman;
• Capital One hires only at Rotman in Canada;
• Most financial positions in the banks go these schools especially Rotman..
• J & J international recrutiment program comes only to Rotman.
• CIBC might recruit say 2 at every business school in Canada, but at Rotman they will have more than 10 hires.

Other factors which might not be important to you but could be for some - UK has a list of 50 schools for which if you are a graduate of one these schools, you get a 1 year open work permit there...So look at the list of employers and see who recruits there and how many positions are they recruit for- CIBC might recruit say 2 at every business school in Canada, but at Rotman they will have more than 10 hires.
